Rules & Regulations

General Discord Rules

Hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated.

No spamming anywhere; this includes text and voice channels.

Do not abuse the bots. Use appropriate channels.

No toxicity. Use common sense and get along with your fellow players and community members. Banter is fine, don't be a shithead.

As a player of Topshot Summit Series (TSS), you agree to use common sense and to follow any and all rules listed in this document, the TSS Discord, and all official documents of TSS. You also agree to abide by the Rocket League and Discord Terms Of Service. Any player under 18 years of age agrees that by signing up for TSS, you have parental consent to participate and compete in TSS.

Appropriate TSS Staff may add or modify rules at any time. League Commissioners have final say in all decisions.

Punishments

If any rules are found to be violated by members of this League in any setting related to TSS, punishments will be left to the discretion of the League Commissioners and Moderation Team.
Any punishment can be appealed through Modmail to then be reviewed by one of the Commissioners (please don't waste the Commissioner’s time).
If a player outside of a league’s MMR ceiling participates in a match, that match will be considered a forfeit in the other team’s favor. It is the team's responsibility to ensure all players are eligible and register for TSS in a timely manner.

Disclaimer

At the end of the day, everyone is here to play Rocket League and have a good time. Use common sense when interpreting the rules and making decisions. If something you are considering doing or saying may lead to another player not enjoying the league, then don't do it. In contrast, banter is allowed. Don’t be overly sensitive. The line here will always be at the discretion of the league commissioners.

League Format Rules

Teams can play on any standard map agreed upon by both teams.

If a map cannot be agreed upon by both teams, the match will be played on "Champions Field (Day)".

If an official caster is casting your match, the map rotation is completely up to them.

League Play Definition

Two matches from league play will be played each week.

Regular season matches will be a best-of-five series. The first team to win 3 games is the victor.

League standings will be decided based on a team's overall record. Tiebreakers will be decided using the following order:

Head to head

Game win/loss differential

On-Stream Tie-Breaker Match (best of 5)

At the end of regular season league play, the top 10 teams from each league will advance into their respective play-offs.

Match Scheduling and Play Rules

Matches must be played between Monday and Sunday of each week, and all replays must be submitted to your match thread as loose files no-later-than 11:59 Eastern Time on Sunday evening.

League Play game-times are to be negotiated by opposing team captains and/or org managers. All matches are to take place between Monday and Sunday of each week. Once an agreement has been made, the day and time must be submitted to the TSS bot and agreed on by both parties with (instructions TBD) using US Eastern Time (EDT/EST).

Matches that are streamed on the TSS Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/summitseries) will be played on Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:00 and 8:45 PM (ET). At 9:30 PM on each stream day, the stream will host a designated community caster with an official TSS followed by a Stream Announcement in the Discord.

If your team would like a chance to be streamed on the official channel, your matches must be scheduled during the above stream times.

All games should be played on US-East servers unless agreed upon by team captains.

A request to change servers must be done in between games and must be agreed upon by opposing captains and caster (if game is being streamed).

After a match time has been agreed upon by both captains, a change of match time requires both captains' approval. An org manager can override a captain in this situation.

Failure to agree to a match time by the conclusion of Wednesday of each week (EDT/EST) will result in a double forfeit. It will be the responsibility of either team to plead their case for a win over the other team for X reason. Any captain found to be lying about their availability to attempt to force a forfeit will be removed from the position and suspended from the league. We are here to play Rocket League.

Any team determined to be a PITA to schedule with due to negligence or lack of willingness to compromise will be removed from the league at the discretion of League Commissioners.

Any person spectating a match that is not a registered Topshot Summit Series caster (and casting said match) must be in the Discord #spectating channel.

If a team cannot field a three-player roster within 15 minutes of the agreed start time, Game 1 will be forfeited. If the team still cannot field a three-player roster after 25 minutes from the match's start time, the entire series will be forfeited. In either forfeiture scenario, it's at the on-time team's discretion whether to accept the forfeit or reschedule the series.

No game shall start as a 2v3, 1v3, 2v2, 1v2, or 1v1.

You may only substitute players in-between games, not during. A sub is not allowed to join during the game to replace a disconnected player.

If a player disconnects within the first 30 seconds of a game and no goals have been scored, the lobby will be reset. This must be brought up immediately by the team or caster needing to reset the lobby, before the first goal is scored.

If a player disconnects after the first 30 seconds of a game, that game will be played out to its conclusion. If the same player returns during the game, they may rejoin immediately.

If a player is still disconnected after the game has concluded, their team has 10 minutes to return the player to the lobby or field an eligible sub to replace them before the match is considered a forfeit.

Using the "Change Team" function to get back on defense or hand-pick kickoff positions before the countdown is not allowed. Any team doing so will have that game count as a forfeit.

All replays must be saved for league matches. Replays will be uploaded in match chats as loose, individual files for league staff review.

Free Agent Subs

A team may use a free agent substitute four times during the regular season (four matches total), and a specific free agent may only be used once by the same team. The substitute’s recorded MMR must be equal to or less than the player they are replacing. A team must field two rostered players at all times. It is the team using the substitute’s responsibility to check that player’s tracker and make sure they are eligible to play. “We didn’t know” will be considered unfortunate.

Playoffs

Playoffs will be hosted as a single elimination tournament.

Quarters - best of 5 series (first to 3 wins)

Semi's - best of 7 series (first to 4 wins)

Finals - best of 7 series (first to 4 wins)

The top two teams in each league will gain a first-round bye in their respective playoff.

Finals must be played at a set time on the official TSS stream.

If there is a scheduling conflict, a new stream time must be arranged between the two teams, a commissioner, and a registered TSS Community Caster .

Promotion/Relegation

From all leagues, except Pro League, the top team will gain automatic promotion to the next higher league.
From all leagues, except Farmers League, the bottom team will be subject to automatic relegation to the next lower league.
From all leagues, except Pro League, the second place team will qualify for a promotion/relegation playoff against the second to last place team from the next higher league.
From all leagues, except Farmers League, the second to last place team will qualify for a promotion/relegation playoff against the second place team from the next lowest league.
If there are 8 teams in each league, the 2nd place team from League C will play the 7th place team from League B.
If the 2nd place team from League C wins, they will be promoted, and the 7th place team from League B will be relegated.
If the 7th place team from League B wins, each team will stay in their respective league.
📋 Note: The promotion/relegation system ensures competitive balance across all leagues, giving teams the opportunity to move up through strong performance or face relegation if they underperform.

League Managers

Each league will be assigned to a League Manager to ensure matches are being scheduled and to help dispute any scheduling conflicts. No League Manager or staff member will make a decision about a league they actively participate in.

Transfer Window

Signing Players:

When signing a player, the signed player must bless off on the transaction.
To sign a player, a team must post the transaction in the #transactions-approval Discord channel. The player must react to the post. Once approved, a mod or commissioner will process the transaction it in the #transactions channel.
Example: The Garbage Men sign @Logan👍

Any player dropped from a team will be returned to the Free Agent pool.

MMR Ceiling

At the beginning of transfer windows, each league will be assigned an MMR ceiling.
Teams may not negotiate signings with a player that has a peak MMR above their league’s MMR ceiling visible on their trackers (excluding glitches). The ceiling will be equal to roughly the league aboves average of all players at the beginning of the season. League Commissioners discretion.
Important: The MMR ceiling system ensures competitive balance across all leagues. Teams must verify player MMR before initiating signing discussions.

Trading a Player

A player signed to another team may only be traded if the team the player is contracted to, the team signing the player, and the player(s) involved all agree on the transaction.
📋 Note: All parties must consent to any trade. No forced transfers are allowed.

Transfer Window Rules

During the transfer window, teams are allowed to trade players, transfer players, drop players, and sign free agents.

Once the transfer window closes, no transactions of any type will be authorized.

Exceptions may be granted in extreme circumstances by a League Commissioner.
Transfer Window Rules: All roster moves must be completed within the designated transfer window period. Plan your roster changes accordingly as late requests will not be accommodated unless approved by a Commissioner due to exceptional circumstances.
